Ryan Schmidt has 22 years of experience in the soy, nutrition and medical food industries and currently serves as President of Soy Labs, LLC, a nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, and functional food ingredient company he founded in 2004. He is also the managing director for the Missouri Plant Science Center, a shared use research and pilot scale manufacturing facility. Mr. Schmidt was a co-founder of Bay Valley Group, Inc., a sales, marketing, and business development consulting firm with clients that included industry leaders such as PepsiCo, Frito Lay, US Soy, NRG Foods, Select Soy/Nature Select, start up biotechnology companies and several Non-profit organizations. Mr. Schmidt began his career managing a large health food store while working toward his Bachelor of Science degree in business management. Later he joined MLO Products, a sports nutrition company, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become vice president of sales and marketing. While at MLO, he formed and managed Bio Tech USA, a retail distribution company; turned around Pure & Simple, an unprofitable natural food grocery line; and was one of the founders of GeniSoy Products, a company that became the largest soy functional food company in the industry within the first two years of operation.
