Pingfan Rao, Ph.D.
Dr. Rao is a Professor and current Director of the Institute of Biotechnology at Fuzhou University, China, where he has been teaching for over twenty years. He is actively involved in the food industry, as the founder and advisor of food and biotech companies, the President-elect of the International Union of Food Science and Technology and an advisor to municipal governments. He has also been the Vice President of the Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology since 2001. His research focuses primarily on identifying and characterizing bioactive proteins and expression and scale production of recombinant enzymes, protein derivatives as the active ingredients of tradition Chinese medicine and food. In addition to his work in China, he is also a Distinguished Visiting Professor of the University of Ulster, UK.
