Dr. Kelley is a Research Chemist at the Western Human Nutrition Research Center, ARS, USDA, and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Nutrition at UC Davis. His research has focused on the effect of dietary fatty acids and phytonutrients on risk factors for insulin resistance, cardiovascular and nonalcoholic fatty liver diseases. Besides the prevention of these chronic diseases, Dr Kelley is also interested in the mechanisms, particularly inflammatory processes in mediating these diseases. He serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals in the areas of nutrition and lipids, including the Journal of Nutrition and the British Journal of Nutrition. He is a member of the International Scientific Society for Fatty Acids and Lipids, British Nutrition Society and the American Society for Nutritional Sciences. He was awarded the 2010 Robert H. Herman Memorial Award for his significant contributions to the biochemical and metabolic aspects of nutrition by the American Society for Nutritional Sciences.
